Site Access Controller Isle of Wight

MacRail is currently seeking Site Access Controllers for various rail work sites in Isle of Wight. No previous Site Access Controller experience is required, full induction and training will be given upon appointment. The role would be suitable for those looking to gain experience within the rail industry or seeking shift based, contract work.

The role of a Site Access Controller will include:

  • Signing in and out all personnel that arrive on the work site and maintain accurate records of each person’s details using the software provided.
  • Ensuring that all workers carry full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Denying access to those not permitted to enter the site.
  • Conducting registration checks such as licence, medical certificates and qualifications.
  • Updating Works Managers (WM) every hour with progress reports recorded within software provided.
  • Communicating with the emergency services in the case of an accident.

Site Access Controllers are employed through our sister umbrella company Bishops Gate. They will be deployed on a temporary assignment through MacRail. You will be paid on a weekly basis and Holiday pay is either paid weekly with your salary or have it retained by Bishops Gate and have it paid to you when you take time off for annual leave.

Umbrella firms including Bishops Gate take deductions for their services which you need to bear in mind and will all be explained to you when you sign up. This means the hourly rate you will receive after deductions from Bishops Gate can vary depending on certain factors, however, on average you can roughly expect £10.77 to £10.86 per hour working between 12hrs to 32hrs per week.

*The above calculations are based on being paid your holiday pay and working weekends (rate to drop slightly should you work midweek days), if you were to separate and retain your holiday pay it would be slightly lower.

Required criteria;

·        A personal computer and an internet connection for the remote training via Microsoft Teams.

·        You must have a full UK driving license and have access to a car.

·        Must be available for midweek and weekend working.

·        IT literate.

·        Confident to deal with groups of people, including delivering important Health & Safety information.

·        The ability to effectively communicate (both verbal and written).

·        Assertive – able to deal with challenging individuals and/or situations, rejecting individuals upon signing in for not meeting PPE requirements.

Beneficial experience but not essential;

·        Knowledge of railway track renewals.

·        Previous Site Access experience in any industry.

·        Comprehensive understanding of the phonetic alphabet

·        PTS competency.

Full training, uniform and equipment are provided.
